2016-2017 Community Grant Recipients Announced

Each year the Junior League of Northern Virginia (JLNV), through our community grants program, supports innovative community projects and programs that promote healthy eating and active living. This year the we were able to award $17,000 and 250 volunteer hours through our grants program.The 2016-2017 JLNV community grant recipients were recognized during the League’s annual Celebration of Service on May 7.

The 2016-2017 JLNV community grant recipients include:

  • Arcadia Farm CampA grant of $4,000 and 80 volunteer hours in support of Farm Camp scholarships for low-income children
  • Our Daily BreadA grant of $4,000 and 30 volunteer hours in support of Our Daily Veggies program
  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater WashingtonA grant of $4,000 in support of the Healthy Habits program
  • FACETSA grant of $650 in support of supplies – yoga mats and Magic Bullet blenders – for its nutrition classes
  • Capital Area Food BankA grant of 60 volunteer hours in support of the Weekend Bag program
  • Mason Crest Elementary SchoolA grant of $2,200 and 80 volunteer hours in support of the school garden
  • Neighborhood HealthA grant of $2,150 for its Project SNACK healthy eating classes
