JLNV Announces Two New Partnerships for Its Kids in the Kitchen Program

The Junior League of Northern Virginia (JLNV) is excited to announce that its Kids in the Kitchen program has two new partnerships for 2019-2020. JLNV will partner with Main Street Child Development Center and the Dr. Yum Project.

Main Street Child Development Center provides high-quality, comprehensive early childhood education programs and support services to empower children and their families, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through this partnership, the JLNV will be working with Main Street’s Eagles Class for children ages 5-8 to provide nutrition lessons and cooking classes.

The Dr. Yum Project was started by pediatrician Nimali Fernando MD, MPH in response to the growing rates of childhood obesity. The mission of The Doctor Yum Project is to transform the lives of families and communities by providing an understanding of the connection between food and overall health, as well as empowering them with the tools to live a healthy life. Through this partnership, JLNV’s goal is to facilitate conversations and introductions of the Dr. Yum Project resources in the Northern Virginia area.
