JUNIOR LEAGUE OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMITS TO PROVIDING PERIOD SUPPLIES TO THE LORTON COMMUNITY ACTION CENTER

Fairfax, VA, Oct. 20, 2023  – The Junior League of Northern Virginia is thrilled for the opportunity to continue supporting our community in partnership with the Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC). The mission of the center is to enhance the quality of life for clients by providing food, basic needs, and self-sufficiency programs made possible through the generous support of the community.

As part of deepening its commitment and partnership with LCAC, the League has committed to providing at least 8,000 period products to the center’s clients over the next year.

“The Lorton Community Action Center has had a longstanding relationship with the Junior League of Northern Virginia, which has supported our work over the years of providing food, basic needs, and self-sufficiency programs to the greater Lorton community. We are thrilled that JLNV is stepping into an even more generous role – these donations will ensure that women have access to necessary period products whenever they need them,” Rob Rutland-Brown, the Executive Director of Lorton Community Action Center

This deepened partnership embodies the League’s new focus: Women Helping Women, a commitment to providing essential services and professional development training opportunities for women and families in the local community.

“Statistics show that 20% of women in the DMV live in poverty – and lack of access to period products is often a hidden consequence. Our partnership will provide much needed period products in our local area and really embraces our new focus area. We’re thrilled to partner with LCAC to support its critical work and women and families within our community,” JLNV President, Michelle Freeman
